HOW DO CHINESE THINK?
Edited by: Elena Avramidou Fernando Reyes Matta
China is the cradle of a great civilization with a spectacular rise as
a global economic power in the last decades. Hundreds of millions
of people benefitted from its remarkable development success
while its preparedness towards a world leadership in the AI field is
impressive. However, China is still an uncharted territory for many
people. It seems to be incomprehensible for the Western world. Is
it because Chinese think differently than “us”? If so, then How do
Chinese think?
It is vital to know that if we want to know better each other and
engage in an open dialogue, because the multitude of challenges
(climate change, security and peace in the world, income inequality)
that the global community faces today require a collective action.
We addressed this question to distinguished Chinese academics
and prominent foreign sinologists. Their insightful responses
help to navigate to the unknown and intriguing world of Chinese
thought and get closer to the way of thinking of the Chinese. This
is why Universidad Andrés Bello is publishing this book in the
understanding that its contents will be a contribution to those
who, in different ways, are part of our network of contacts, shared
objectives and desire to offer a vision of the future to humanity.
